MINEHEAD First XI may well have been relegated after finishing bottom of the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League, but while their playing performances have been disappointing they have done themselves proud when it comes to Fair Play and Pitch Marks.
The WEPL, which comprises of over 70 clubs right across the region, have just released their end of season tables for Fair Play and for Pitch Marks in 2024 and Minehead are near the top in both categories, which is a credit to all concerned .
The Fair Play marks are awarded by the match day umpires and in the Fair Play league table which is topped by Congresbury CC with a total of 17.28 points, Minehead come out in sixth place with 16.67.
In the Pitch Marks table Minehead have again excelled themselves and find themselves in seventh place out of the 70 clubs with 16.44, the table being headed by Bridgwater First/Second XI with 17.11.
Given the fact there are a lot of big clubs involved in the West of England Premier League structure, some of who will have full time paid staff to look after their pitches Minehead and all of those involved can hold their heads high.
