THE only hockey match played on the half-term Saturday saw Minehead Men’s first team travel to Cullompton to face ECV Hornets.

Looking to continue their recent form and consistent goalscoring, they made a strong start with Jack Richards, Lawrence Taylor and Josh Hooper all scoring in the first ten minutes and their constant possession put the visitors in a strong position.

It was not long before Mark Bolton made it four. The seasiders then capitulated; trying to up the ante with some speculative through-balls and handing possession to ECVH.

Despite this Adrian Bagg remained untested in goal and saw a comfortable half time lead.

After the re-set the team looked more settled; good preessure up top meant plenty of ball turned over and it was not long before Taylor slotted his second of the day and Claude Mahlich make it six lasering the ball into the bottom corner after an unselfish Chris Weetch assist.

Bagg was finally called into action in goal, and Richards made a crucial block on the line. Man of the match: Paul Jones.

Minehead will look to carry on their momentum with a home clash on Saturday against fellow table-toppers Bridgwater; the seconds travel to Bridgwater, and the thirds play away to Westbury and United Banks.
