MINEHEAD Under 18s travelled to Street last Sunday to play the County Cup finalists who won 3-2 with a late goal. Minehead started brightly with the midfield of Lyam Scheepers, Lewis Goodrum and Oli Hall making the most of the big pitch and bringing in strikers Fin Haran and Alfie Lyons at every opportunity.
Minehead went ahead when Lyons latched on to a through ball to shoot home. After 20 minutes the Blues had another after Haran was found and after looking as if he had lost his opportunity only to turn inside and finish very well.
However Street came back into it and started to boss the middle of the park. The defence including Leo Ahern looked defiant but regrettably despite the outstanding Myles Campbell-Farmer, Louis Burge, Lewis Norman and Lennon Sowden the pressure finally told and the home team dragged the game back to 2-2 at halftime The second half saw the introduction of young Ashton Bruford at right back while other substitutes to join this excellent encounter were the reliable Tom Kennett, Riley Pope and Toby Hawkins. Street scored the winner with only two minutes to go.
This is a young Minehead team who will largely stay together for next year. Man of the match: Louis Burge
