AS EXPECTED, August and September have been busy months in the Ladies Section at Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club.

We have had our regular competitions on a Thursday as well as matches against other clubs in Somerset. We have also had our ‘roll-ups’ on Mondays and Saturdays and the opportunity to play in the main competition of the week at the weekend.

Ros Chidgey and Ingrid Swinburn were victorious in the Philips Cup and Daily Mail Foursomes where each player takes alternate shots. Thay now have the option of going through to the next round which will be played on a different course against other winners in the area.

The Seniors Ladies Trophy has also been played for which is a Stableford format for those aged 60 and over. Paula Parkin was the winner on 33 points. Conditions were not at all easy with plenty of wind and a changing wind direction during the round.

We have also played matches against Mendip Springs, Wells, Enmore and Yeovil among others.

What can only be deemed one of the most fun competitions of the year was Ladies Captain’s Day. This year’s Captain Ginnette Bowyer organised a relaxed day for all abilities including a ‘Nearest the Gin’ prize.
