MINEHEAD Barbarians’ rugby players will have a complete weekend off before they play their tough home match against leaders Midsomer Norton in Somerset Two South on Saturday, November 30.
“I did suggest we might have a session this weekend but there would not be enough players available so it would have been pretty pointless,” said Minehead’s head coach Mick Orton this week.
Midsomer Norton will go into next weekend’s top of the table clash with a seven-point lead over the Babas - and having won three of their games by scoring more than 100 points.
They recently beat St Bernadettes Old Boys 143-0 and Orton added: “Such a result is no good for anyone, for the RFU, St Bernadettes or for Midsomer Norton.
“Obviously they will come to Minehead with an impressive record. But we will go into the challenge the best we can. They will have to come to terms with our pitch - our lads know how to play it. We have always been a difficult side to beat at home and I expect this to be the case next weekend.”
Minehead had a number of players unavailable for the match against St Bernadettes last weekend, and Orton is hoping some of these will be available to face Midsomer Norton.
