MINEHEAD Barbarians will be looking to keep in touch with leaders Midsomer Norton when they play away to Avon in Somerset Two South on Saturday, January 4.

The Babas will be chasing a double, having beaten Avon 24-20 in a close match at the end of September.

Minehead are currently lying second in the table, while Avon are only seven points adrift in third spot with a game in hand.

Minehead need to beat Avon because Midsomer Norton play away to bottom side Wells and could end up with another cricket score, having already beaten the division's bottom side 109-0 earlier this season, one of three games in which the leaders have scored more than 100 points this season.

Minehead Barbarians 2nd XV are also in action on Saturday, January 4 - at home to Hornets IV in Counties Four Somerset South.

Meanwhile, Wiveliscombe will be chasing a double when they play away to struggling Tavistock in Western Counties West. Wiveliscombe, who are having a far better season and are fifth in the division, beat Tavistock 37-14 at home at the end of September.

However Wiveliscombe's 2nd XV, who are lying second in Counties Four Somerset South only four points behind leaders Martock with a game in hand, have a blank weekend. Wiveliscombe have won nine of their ten fixtures.
