WIVEL:ISCOMBE 2nd XV stormed to a 90-0 home victory over Tor IIs in Counties Four Somerset South, securing their biggest victory of the season.

Tor competed well in set pieces but had no answer to the home team’s open play whose three quarters and loose forwards scored a total of 14 tries of which ten were converted.

Playing up the slope in the first half Wiveliscombe were soon scoring points with flanker Isaac Hines finishing off the home team’s first piece of open play between forwards and threes. Fly-half Cameron Palk added the conversion.

Fullback Tom Pike, who made his first team debut in the last few weeks, crossed for the home team’s second try followed by a third from second row Dave Russell, showing good pace to penetrate the visitors defence. Palk converted the latter.

Pike crossed for his second try followed by Josh Alford’ s first of his four try tally of the match. Palk converted Pike’s try. Flanker Will Ruell and second row Dave Russell, his second of the game, completed the tries scored in the first half for Wivey. Dan Rottenbury converted both those tries for a 45-0 half time lead.

Stephen Briggs came off the bench to score Wivey’s first try of the second half to bring up the half century. Tries by Dave Russell and Josh Alford, both converted by Oliver Luxton, gave Wivey a 64-0 lead. Winger Ashley Irvine’s try took the score over seventy points with Oliver Luxton adding his third conversion.

Experienced centre Richard Wike showed he has lost no pace in scoring a good try. .Winger Josh Alford crossed for Wivey’s last two tries, bringing his personal tally to four. Oliver Luxton added the two conversion to complete the scoring.

Wiveliscombe remain second in the table, four points behind title rivals Martock, with a vital game ion hand.
