MINEHEAD Barbarians will be looking for a hat-trick of victories when they play at home to Hornets 2nd XV in Counties Two Somerset today.

However, despite wins over Tor and St Bernadettes Old Boys, the Babas remain third from bottom in the table. They would have been one place higher, had they not had five points deducted.

Their game against Hornets will be challenging because the Weston outfit are lying third, having won nine of their 12 fixtures.

Old Redcliffians continue to set the pace in the division, having lost only one of their 12 matches this season, although Taunton 2nd XV are only three points adrift.

Minehead 2nd XV are home to their Tor counterparts in Counties Four Somerset South. Minehead have won only one of their eight matches this season, and are six points adrift at the bottom of the table.

There is a derby match at the Athletic Ground, Wellington, in Counties Three Somerset South today with the home side looking to gain their second win of the season over their Wiveliscombe counterparts, having won by the surprisingly big margin of 38-0 when the sides played each other in early September.

However, Wiveliscombe are seventh in the table, one place above Wellington who have had ten points deducted for failing to fulfil two fixtures.

The sides will be in action again at Wiveliscombe on Boxing Day morning, prior to the big first team game in the afternoon.

Wiveliscombe’s first team will be looking to complete the season’s double over their opponents when Bideford visit The Rec for a game in Counties One Western West today. Wivey chalked up a 42-10 victory when they played in North Devon in September.

Wiveliscombe, who lost 45-13 away to second-placed Topsham last weekend, are lying sixth, two places below Bideford, both sides having played the same number of matches.

The temperature will be much colder than when the sides clashed in September.
