WIVELISCOMBE travelled to Paignton with a number of changes and pushed the home team all the way to the last ten minutes when the Devon outfit scored three converted tries. Paignton, who are celebrating their 150th anniversary, are unbeaten in the league this season and sit in top position in Western Counties West,

The first half was tightly contested with little to choose between the teams. Harry Ward and Josh Gillard scored tries for the home team with Brad Mckee adding two conversions. Wiveliscombe’s first half tries were scored by captain Will Ellis and back row forward Dan Smythe-Moore, with Will Thorne adding one conversions.

The second half continued to be well contested with both teams creating chances but the home team finished strongly to score three late converted tries in the last fifteen minutes.  Wiveliscombes second half points came from scrum half Richard Baker. Paignton’ s second half points were scored by wingers Josh Gillard and Franco Van Rooyen, No 8 Jack Carlisle, scrum half Dewald Stoop and replacement Ollie Williams. Mckee added four conversions.

Wiveliscombe’s second fifteen proved far too strong for Tor and won 83-0 away. Wivey remain unbeaten in the Somerset Four South sitting in top position, winning their first five games.
