BRIDGWATER and Taunton College donated more than £4,000 to the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance following an event held by the Walled Gardens of Cannington.

The Walled Gardens, which are a part of the college, held two special open days where all entrance fees would be donated to the charity.

The event was held in memory of local short story author Graham Watts. His daughter, Emma Butler, is horticulture course leader at the college.

She said: “Dad was a great storyteller, and under the pseudonym ‘A Passer By’ he wrote and submitted short stories about growing up on a Somerset dairy farm to his monthly local village magazine.

“At dad’s request, we have compiled his stories, with illustrations by his granddaughter Molly, into a book and are donating proceeds to the Air Ambulance charity.”

Somerset Tales of a Passer By’ can be purchased at the Walled Gardens of Cannington.
