WIVELISCOMBE fell silent on Saturday and again on Sunday (November 11 and 12) as annual Remembrance events were observed in the town.
On Armistice Day (November 11) a two-minute silence was held in the town centre led by Wiveliscombe Royal British Legion branch president retired Maj Mike Morin with standard bearer Steven Wort and escorts Del Evans and Ian Partridge.
The Last Post and Reveille was played by 11-year-old Elliott Coles.

It was followed by wreath laying at the war memorial in Wiveliscombe War Memorial Recreation Ground by Maj Morin, town Cllr Mark Blaker, and Wiveliscombe Fire Station representative Gareth Bellamy.
A prayer was given by the Rev Martin Walker, the rector of Wivey and the Hills benefice.
Many in the community bowed their heads for the silent tribute to all those who had lost their lives in conflicts around the world.
On Remembrance Sunday (November 12), the Wiveliscombe community gathered in The Square for a parade to St Andrew’s Church where a service of remembrance was held.
The parade was led by Claire Wilkinson and her horse Fly and the commander was Maj Morin, who was followed by branch chairman Sylvia Cottrell with Sue and ‘Wivey Boy’, and legion members and veterans.
The Standard party again comprised Steven Wort and escorts Del Evans and Ian Partridge.
Also parading were members of the town’s scouts, cubs, beaver's, guides, brownies, and rainbows.
Wiveliscombe Town Band played and was followed by Wiveliscombe firefighters and Wivey Responders.
The service in St Andrews’s began at 10.45 am and was led by the Rev Walker and Pastor Martyn Parry.
Wreaths were laid at the memorial by Cllr Blaker and representatives of other community organisations.
Maj Morin thanked deputy band master of Wiveliscombe Town Band, town council chairman Cllr Roger Wilson and Cllr Peter Berman, and the team from Wiveliscombe Rotary for management of the parade.
