CONTRACTORS had to return to Timberscombe this week to finish resurfacing a road after they ran out tarmac.
The firm was working for Wessex Water, which is replacing the village’s water mains pipes in a nine-month project due to be completed in September.
Last week, workers were supposed to have resurfaced a stretch of Great House Street as far as Willow Bank, but ran out of tarmac for the job.
Parish clerk Lesley Webb said the job was instead being finished on Wednesday (August 14) and the road fully reopened.
Mrs Webb said more work was still to be carried out beyond Holes Square, and a hole outside Butterflies needed filling, but it could be done without a closure.
She said there were still problems beyond the Willow Bank junction due to ‘another machinery breakdown’ with road blockages expected for another week.
The £850,000 project started in January with a rolling programme of road closures.
