PREPARATIONS are in hand for the annual Dulverton by Starlight festival which takes place on Sunday, December 3.
Fireworks will light up the Exmoor sky as many of the town’s 40-plus independent shops open for late-night shopping.
The festival will run from 2 pm to 7 pm, illuminated with white lights on Christmas trees lining the streets and owners and staff of shops and businesses traditionally dressed for the season.
Many premises will open all day for browsing and buying for Christmas gifts and food and drink.
Dulverton’s popular indoor and outdoor winter market will run throughout the festival time selling local crafts, gifts, and food.
Roaming entertainers will keep crowds enthralled wherever they are in the town with their pop-up performances, juggling, tricks, and jokes.
Santa will be in his grotto in Dulverton Heritage Centre from 3 pm, and there will be carols to sing along with next to the large Christmas tree at 5.45 pm, and the ever-popular fireworks to finish off a fun event at 6.15 pm.
The town council has liaised with Somerset Council to ensure that parking in the town’s car parks will be free of charge on the day.
A park and ride service will also be available from Brushford, Masons Kings, and The Anchor Inn, in Exebridge.
Visit Dulverton spokeswoman Ali Pegrum said: “A visit to Dulverton by Starlight will lift your spirits and give some festive cheer to all who come along.”
The festival is sponsored by Dulverton Town Council, Exmoor News, Remote Therapies, and Exmoor Distillery.
