ENTERTAINMENT in Minehead for the 1940s weekend was postponed following the death of the Queen, but events are going ahead at West Somerset Railway and at Watchet.

Chair of the Minehead Business Improvement District said: “We have made the decision as a BID Board to postpone the 194s event that was due to take place this weekend (Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th September), in light of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

“We are sorry for any disappointment or inconvenience caused, but trust you understand.

We will announce the revised date as soon as possible. Thank you again for your kind understanding.Graham Sizer.”

The West Somerset Railway-organised Forties events continued, with “appropriate changes where necessary to reflect the current circumstances”.

In Watchet, the 1940s Home Front Group Event is going ahead with a few changes to the events and programme, and the town said to be “bustling”.
