WATCHKEEPERS in Minehead’s National Coastwatch Institution station are holding an open morning next week.

They are inviting people to pop into the station on the sea front opposite Butlin’s main entrance between 10 am and 12 noon on Tuesday (April 19).

People can meet the volunteer watchkeepers and learn more about what the station does.

Coastwatch is a volunteer organisation providing ‘eyes and ears’ along the UK coast in support of HJM Coastguards as part of the country’s wider marine search and rescue capability.

The Minehead station is one of more than 60 around the country and is always looking for more volunteers to join its watchkeeping team.

More information will be available during the open morning, and anybody who cannot attend can email [email protected].
