STUDENTS of Kingsmead School, Wiveliscombe, were celebrating today after an impressive set of GCSE examination results across all levels.
Headteacher John Eddy said: “Students secured exceptionally high grades.
“Overall, the number of grade 9 results has never been as high, as a result of the hard work of the students and teaching staff.
“There are success stories right across the year group and the school is very proud of their achievements.
“The year group has been significantly impacted by covid since year eight, with lots of face to face teaching time lost because of the lockdowns, the subsequent high absence rates, and the mental health concerns that many students experienced.
“That they have applied themselves so well to their studies is a great credit to them.
“They have been supported throughout by dedicated staff who have done all they could to guide them through their studies.
“We wish all our students every success as they move on to the next phase of their education.”
Among the youngsters who secured exceptionally high grades was Anna Collins, who gained nine grade 9s and one grade 8.
Connie Cox and Noah Heal both celebrated six grade 9s each.
A significant number of students also made exceptional progress while at Kingsmead, including Phoebe Johnson, Oliver Howden, Freya Whiting, and Shelley Santos, who attained GCSEs at many grades above their targets.
Mr Eddy said their achievements were down to their ‘great determination and hard work’.
