HOLIDAY giant Hoburne Ltd has won a two-year planning battle to be allowed to keep 34 static caravans on part of its Blue Anchor site.

The company was refused permission in June, 2022, for a certificate of lawful use, the effect of which would be to acknowledge caravans had been on the land for long enough to legalise the use.

But it lodged an appeal to the Government’s Planning Inspectorate which has now been successful.

The site in the north eastern part of the caravan park had been used for touring caravan pitches and contained a toilet/shower block.

Planning inspector James Blackwell said: “While the caravan site is long established, the planning history for the site is somewhat unclear, and includes a number of gaps.”

However, Mr Blackwell said there were planning documents dating to 1955 which referenced the appeal site and none included any restriction on the type of caravan.
