LABOUR’S Jonathan Barter met Minehead eco businessman Keith Hunt when he visited the town as part of his General Election campaign.
Mr Barter, a secondary school teacher who is standing in the Tiverton and Minehead constituency, dropped into Mr Hunt’s Our Precious Earth shop, in Holloway Street, where the businessman promotes a zero waste, plastic free culture.
He said: “It was fantastic to meet Keith at his shop.
“Keith’s mission is to create a zero-waste shop after seeing the damage caused by plastic waste in our beaches.
“This award-winning shop is a brilliant example of an ethical small business and is a gem in this amazing town.
“Small businesses are the beating heart of the British economy, particularly in our small towns in Devon and Somerset.
“Labour’s plan to replace the current business rates system will reduce the burden on our high streets which are so vital for our communities.”
