A NEW Postmistress will take over in Williton at the end of the month to secure the future of the village’s Post Office.
Kiran Malik will run the business from August 29 as Caroline and Brian Tyner move on after nearly 19 years.
Williton Post Office building had been for sale for some time with an asking price of £495,000, and a separate offer of a 10-year postal and retail shop business lease for £40,000.
Mr and Mrs Tyner said Ms Malik had been running a Post Office in Worcestershire and was familiar with all aspects of the work and customer transactions.
In a farewell message to customers the couple said: “The familiar faces of our team, Sharon, Karen, and Becky will still be here to help you, but you will also get to meet some new team members.
“We have had the enormous privilege of serving this community.
“You have supported us throughout and we have enjoyed your company all these years, through all the changes and challenges.
“We have laughed and cried with you, and we will miss you.
“But it is time for us to change our lifestyle and spend some years enjoying a well-earned retirement.
“We will be staying in our home in Williton and so we will surely see you in the street.
“We want to thank ‘our girls’ Sharon, Karen, and Becky for their faithful service and friendship.
“We also want to thank you, ‘our customers’, for your support and patronage all these years.”
