STAFF in the Minehead and Watchet branches of CRS Building Supplies are hosting curry evenings at local restaurants as part of a ‘Best Mate Curry Date’ initiative to raise awareness of men’s health.
The events support the Movember movement to highlight an issue of suicide rates within the construction industry, which are among the highest of any UK sector.
From Monday (November 4) to Saturday, November 23, anybody spending more than £100 with CRS, which provides high quality building materials to trade and retail customers, will receive a scratch card.
Cards with three matching chillies will win a ticket for two people to attend a curry evening.
Minehead branch manager Dominic Healey said: “Spending time with friends is essential, and we want to offer members of our community the chance to have a ‘mo-ment’ on us by downing tools, enjoying great food, connecting with their mates, and focusing on their wellbeing.”
Watchet branch manager Stuart Davies said: “At the heart of this campaign is a message of solidarity and support for the health and wellbeing of our visitors and staff in our predominantly male-driven industry.
“With construction workers being at such a high risk for mental health issues, we hope to spark meaningful conversations.
“We are proud to stand behind this cause and do our part in promoting a healthy work-life balance.”
