MINEHEAD Town Council has apologised to residents for this year’s Christmas lights display not being up to recent standards.
Complaints were voiced on social media about some lights not working this year, including on the town centre Christmas tree.
Town clerk Ben Parker said severe weather, including Storm Darragh, and subsequent high winds, had impacted the lighting displays across Minehead.
Mr Parker said: “Our maintenance teams and contractors have worked tirelessly to address ongoing technical challenges caused by these adverse weather conditions.
“Despite their best efforts to restore and maintain all the lighting infrastructure, some displays have been affected by circuit issues resulting from the extreme weather.
“While our teams have successfully restored many of the affected areas, the proximity to Christmas Day has limited our ability to implement complete solutions.
“While this year’s displays may not match the brilliance of previous seasons, we hope they still bring joy and festive spirit to our community.”
