HEADTEACHER Laura Mackie has shown local MP Rachel Gilmour some of the ‘continuing challenges’ facing Minehead Middle School.

Ms Mackie also highlighted the school’s teamwork and achievements and introduced her to student leaders and school council representatives, who quizzed her about local topics as well as finding out more about life as an MP.

Their questions included topics such as the need for a community swimming pool and wider sports facilities for the area, and the opening of a rail link between Minehead and further afield.

Ms Mackie said: “It was pleasure showcasing our school and students, sharing our priorities for the future with Rachel.

“As well as giving the students a chance for their voices to be heard on issues that matter to them.”
