ACCESS to cash is set to be improved for people living in Dulverton following a review by LINK, the UK’s cash access and ATM network.

The review came after a community request and identified a ‘gap in cash access services’ in the town.

Now, Dulverton Post Office will start to offer new cash deposit and withdrawal services free of charge for personal current accounts, and a cash deposits and withdrawals for businesses.

The new services will be available from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Friday.

MP Rachel Gilmour welcomed the proposed cash access improvements for the Post Office in Fore Street, which looks likely to be saved from closure by businesswoman Melanie Poole, who has applied to be its postmaster.

Mrs Gilmour said: “In rural areas, such as on Exmoor, and many areas across the Tiverton and Minehead constituency, access to cash is crucial for so many in the community.

“I am glad that following this community request, LINK are planning on expanding the services available for local residents.”

LINK’s report, which was published this week, looked at the cash access services available within a three-mile radius of where at least 95 per cent of Dulverton’s residents lived.

A LINK spokesperson said: “We make sure people in every corner of the UK can access cash.

“We expect these services to be ready within three months of us sharing this assessment, unless someone asks for a review, in which case it will be within three months of sharing the outcome of that review.”
