FAMILIES and children in Watchet are being asked to join a winter beach clean next week.

Plastic Free Communities in West Somerset is organising the event on Saturday, February 8.

The group aims to litter pick and clean starting from the town’s West Street Beach between 10.30am and 12noon.

A spokesperson said: “We will be picking up litter along the beach, along the coast path, and around the town.

“After about an hour, all those taking part are invited to The Sanctuary for hot drinks and cake, after sorting what has been collected.”

The group is also looking for new members and is inviting people to attend its next meeting in The Sanctuary on Tuesday, March 4 at 7 pm.
