A MAN who brandished a knife in a West Somerset village and made people feel threatened has been given a 12-month jail sentence, which was suspended for two years.
Dean Cohen, aged 37, of Stogumber, appeared in Taunton Crown Court for sentencing by Judge Paul Cook.
Cohen, who admitted possessing a bladed article in a public place, was also ordered to attend 30 rehabilitation activity days.
He had been arrested on June 25 when police attended a disturbance in Station Road, Stogumber, near the village hall and primary school, which was locked down for a time.
Judge Cook also made Cohen subject to monthly reviews starting on November 26, and ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the knife.
Cohen was further sentenced on charges of common assault and possession of cannabis, for which he was given one-month concurrent imprisonment sentences, a surcharge for the assault victim, and forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
