HUSBAND and wife Phil and Seonee Brown are asking if a resident of Dulverton can be found to buy their family shop and keep it open after they retire.
The couple have put their jewellery, gift, and plant store up for sale and are hoping to find ‘the right person’ locally to take it on.
The couple, who opened the shop in High Street in 2008, said on social media: “The shop is a real treat and it would be lovely to think it could stay in Dulverton under the love and care of younger hands and fitter bodies.
“Some of you may know we took the decision earlier this year to put our premises on the market.
“This was particularly difficult because the shop is going from strength to strength, thanks to the support of amazing customers, both locals and visitors, in our wonderful town here on Exmoor.

“We know we do not look it, but we are rapidly approaching retirement age and this new life stage requires tough decisions before time runs away with us.
“You never know how long these things will take, so we could still be here at 100 getting our telegrams from the King.
“This shop would make the most wonderful business for anybody who dreams of life on Exmoor, or perhaps is currently close by and wants a new adventure, already set up, well-established, and successful.
“For those that have been here, you will know that Browns is a fabulous collection of gifts, jewellery, smellies, trinkets, clothes, and, of course our glorious courtyard brimming with plants, stone and garden ornaments.”
The premises are being marketed by Webbers for £299,500, including a walled courtyard and a two-bedroom upstairs flat.
Mr and Mrs Brown said in the meantime it would be ‘business as usual’ six days a week.
