VOLUNTEERS are being sought in West Somerset to support people who have sight loss.
Somerset Sight wants to individually match volunteers to residents with a sight impairment.
Charity co-ordinator Joanne Thorogood said: “We have many lonely and isolated people who would love a volunteer visitor.
“This is a rewarding and stimulating role for which you will be well supported by your local volunteer manager.”
Ms Thorogood said anybody with a couple of hours to spare weekly, or fortnightly, who would like to join the team, should email [email protected] or call 01823 333818.
The charity estimates about 19,000 people across Somerset live with visual impairment and at least one in five never leave their home alone.
Ms Thorogood said: “We know life does not stop just because your sight has been affected.
“Our aim is to provide services that help maintain independence and improve the quality of life of anybody affected by sight loss.”
