THE volunteer crew, shop staff, and fund-raising team at Minehead Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) came together at 6.24 pm on Thursday (August 1) to mark the charity’s 200th anniversary.
The time on a 24-hour clock of 18.24 hours symbolised the year when the RNLI was formed.
They gathering by the lifeboat station to mark the momentous occasion and to come together as ‘One Crew’.
Visitors were also treated to a display by the station’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat.
Minehead lifeboat chairman Richard Newton said: “This is inspired by the ‘One Crew’ ethos, which says everything about how the RNLI operates.
“Whether afloat, ashore, or raising vital funds, we are all on the same team ‘Saving Lives at Sea’.”
Mr Newton said visitors were welcome at the station in Quay West, which was open 10 am to 4 pm daily in summer for visitors to learn about Minehead’s rich lifesaving history and high-tech of today.
