A MAN appeared in court on Wednesday (February 14) accused of attempting to abduct two young children in Williton earlier this week.
He pleaded not guilty to both charges and Taunton Deane magistrates remanded him in custody pending a Crown Court hearing in March.
The case follows reports that two girls aged between 10 and 12 years old were offered a lift in a car by man in Williton on Monday afternoon.
The girls ran away and told their parents when they reached home and police were called and a man was arrested the same evening.
An Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokesperson said: “Residents may see an increased police presence in the area as officers continue their inquiries, as well as uniformed reassurance patrols.
“If you have any concerns, please do speak with officers or contact your neighbourhood team by calling 101.
“Officers would still like to hear from anybody who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam or other footage which could help the investigation.”
Anybody who believes they may have information has been asked to call 101 and give the reference number 5224037925.
