A FRESH appeal has been made for volunteers to revive a West Somerset village’s monthly magazine or to create a new version.
Williton Window has not been published since the summer, when editor Linda Wilson stepped down.
Now, Williton Parish Council, which previously helped financially to support the publication, is looking at the feasibility of bringing back the newsletter.
Parish clerk Michelle Francis said: “For years, it was a cherished source of connection and a celebration of all that makes our village special.
“A village magazine is not just about news, it is about us.
“It is a space for sharing what matters, the achievements of our local schoolchildren, the charm of your garden blooms, recipes handed down through generations, or even a cheeky cartoon to make us smile.
“But none of this can happen without a team of volunteers who share a passion for keeping our community informed and united.”
Ms Francis said it did not matter whether a volunteer was a wordsmith who loved writing, a tech-savvy designer, an organiser with an eye for detail, or just somebody who wanted to lend a helping hand, there was a role for them.
Experience was not required, as enthusiasm was the main qualification for which the council was looking, and volunteers did not have to live in the village.
Ms Francis said: “Together, we can build something special again, a magazine that reflects the heart and soul of our village.
“Let us, once again, make Williton Window a vibrant centrepiece of our community.
“Your voice matters, let it be heard.”
The first edition of Williton Window was produced in July 2000, to replace a church newsletter and was the brainchild of Jane Ninis.
Ms Francis said it was a publication where villagers could read updates on local events, heartwarming stories, useful tips shared by members of the community, and much more.
