AN Exmoor village is preparing for a day of medieval fun next week in support of St Margaret’s Hospice.
There will be a medieval feast in Wootton Courtenay Village Hall on Saturday, October 19, with villagers encouraged to wear period garments.
A village crier contest will be staged, and families are being invited to design their own coat of arms banners.
The banners should be delivered to the hall at 10am on Thursday (October 17) and will be on display for people to guess to which families they belong.
Coats of arms designed by noble families date to the 1100s and each one should reflect the life of the designer and family.
Banner material will be supplied for people to glue, sew, and staple any symbols they want to attach.
Tickets for the feast at £12 will remain on sale in the village shop until 1 pm on Monday (October 14).
