PORLOCK Ladies pulled off a 6-3 away win in the rain against Pen Mill Reserves in Division Three South of the Somerset Women’s Football League.
Porlock got off to a shakey start, conceding a goal within the first couple of minutes. However they settled and gradually started to play better football.
Some dogged defending from Kirsty, Rhiannon, Lauren and Maisie, strong midfield play from Liz, Aimee and Helen, pace down the wings from Kayleigh and Izzy and persistent chasing from Sarah and subs Jess and Jaegar when they came on helped to establish control of the match.
Two goals from Aimee, and one from Jess enabled them to go 3-1 ahead by half time.
Aimee bagged herself another couple of goals from close distance. An unfortunate handball led to a penalty for Pen Mill, and despite a great effort from goalie Hannah there was enough pace on the shot to bring it back to 5-2.
Shortly after another free kick was conceded and Pen Mill scored again, leading to some rather nervous moments. However Porlock kept pressing, and Kayleigh was fouled while racing down the wing. Up stepped Aimee from distance to smack home the free kick. Player of the Match: Aimee.
Porlock are home next weekend to Crewkerne.
