ALCOMBE Rovers returned to action with an away game against local rivals Watchet Town Reserves in Division Two of the Taunton Saturday League - and won convincingly 5-1.
The visitors made a strong start, creating a lot of chances and on ten minutes Andy Hall broke the deadlock when he headed home from a well worked cross from Matty Ronan.
Alcombe continued to pile on the pressure and created a number of scoring chances, but couldn’t extend their lead .
However, ten minutes before the break Hall found himself clear through and lobbed the ball over the keeper to extend the lead shortly after which Matty Ronan made it 3-0 when Joel Floyd cut a ball back to him and he struck it into the back of the net.
Alcombe did not take their foot off the gas in the second half and continued to look dangerous. With ten minutes gone the Watchet keeper made a good save but the ball fell to Dan Godfrey who made no mistake. Godfrey then bagged his second in quick succession when he coolly went round the keeper and slotted it home.!
Just before the end a deflected own goal put Watchet on the scoresheet but this was Alcombe’s day after they gave a good all round performance.
Man of the match was Andy Hall after a proper veteran's performance in the middle of the park.
