MINEHEAD went down to a 4-3 away defeat against Ashcott in Division One of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League yesterday (Sat), despite a hat-trick from top scorer Guy Burns.
It was Minehead's first loss of the season in the league and they have slipped to fifth in the table, having begun the match in second spot.
Two goals down at halftime against a side without a win this season , Minehead missed a great chance to pull a goal back when the visitors were awarded a penalty - but Stefan Phillps put his spot-kick over the crossbar.
Ashcott then made it 3-0 before Minehead got back into the game with two goals.
But Minehead shipped another goal before Burns completed his hat-trick - scoring his 150th goal for the club.
It was not a good day for West Somerset clubs with Watchet Town losing 2-0 at home to unbeaten Peasedown Miners Welfare who go second in Division One with a 100 per cent record.
