ASHBRITTLE maintained their 100 per cent record at the top of the first division in the West Somerset Cricket League with a nine-wicket home win over Stoke St Mary.
Having won all eight of their matches, Ashbrittle are 60 points clear of champions and second-placed Kilve - and are already hot favourites to top the table at the end of the summer.
Stoke, who decided to bat first, were bowled out for 121 in 29-3 overs with Callum White taking 4-19 and Oliver White 4-22. Opener Dan Batchelor scored 31, Ashton Noris 33 and Calum Illman 20 - and were the only batters to reach double figures.
The target proved no problem for Ashbrittle who knocked off the runs in 17.3 overs with Andy Hill scoring 51 not out, Luke Williams 30 not out and Wilfred Embleton 30.
Kilve also collected 35 points after beating Churchinford at home by eight wickets. Last season's winners bowled out the visitors for 105 and took only 18.3 overs to win the game.
Morebath went down by two wickets at home to Bagborough in a game between two evenly-matched sides. Morebath, who decided to bat first, scored 197-9 in their 40 overs with Graham Turner (50) and Edward Monk (51 not out) being their main run-makers. Carl Hooper also hit 34 for Morebath who were 170-4 at one stage.
Henry Stiraker was the star bowler, taking 6-48 in his nine-over spell while Mathew Raffill claimed 3-25. Stirzaker enjoyed a splendid game, scoring 49 and helping Bagborough over the line along with Craig Swimburne who made 57.
The other fixture in the top division ended in a four-wicket success for Over Stowey who beat East Huntspill.
Winsford remain top of Division Two after beating Crowcombe by 84 runs at home. Choosing to bat first, Winsford hammered 298-7 in their 40 overs with Ryan Dean leading the charge with 77 in his 49-ball innings. Henry Dunn scored 50 and James How 56 not out. Sajid Ahmed and Richard Baker both picked up two wickets.
Baker was the star when Crowcombe batted, scoring 104 not out while George Robertson scored 65, the pair putting on 132 for the fifth wicket. Dan Bowley finished with figures of 3-20.
Watchet, in second place with a game in hand on the leaders, were awarded 35 points after their opponents Stoodleigh cried off because they could not raise a side.
Roadwater maintained their challenge in third spot after beating Carhampton at home by three wickets. Carhampton were 195 all out with Luke Milton (42) and Paul Keal (41) being their main batters. Joe Murch took 3-37.
Fourth-placed Huish Champfllower won by 87 runs away to Lydeard St Lawrence who slumped to 138 all out when chasing their opponents' 225-6.
