BRIDGETOWN travelled to Brompton Ralph to play in the first division of the West Somerset Cricket League - and came away with a 131-run victory.
The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first. Their opening pair Dan Sizer and Ken Cross started brightly, but Zak Whittaker bowled well, removing Sizer and Fred Stevens in successive balls.
Pete Matravers (48) and Ken Cross (62) steadily accumulated runs in a 121 run partnership and provided the springboard for an assault from the middle order. Ben Luxton (34) and brothers Charlie (30) and Henry Gliddon in particular scored quickly to bring the final score to 249-7.
After tea, Brompton openers Rob Chiplin and Paul Poole took the attack to Bridgetown, racing to 29 in the 3rd over before Chiplin tried one aggressive shot too many and was bowled by Tom Gliddon.
The home side completely fell apart as Chris Wookey and Gliddon took a further five wickets for just 10 runs, collapsing to 39-6..
Three further wickets fell before Darren Towells (23 not out) and Will Barrington (22) played some handsome shots in a 54 run last wicket partnership.
