CARHAMPTON'S poor start in Division Two of the West Somerset League continued as they lost by two wickets away to fellow strugglers Crowcombe.

Visiting skipper Dom Westcott won the toss and elected to bat and after losing Ian Cape on 16 Carhampton reached 84 before James Snell was out for 16 bowled by Rob White.

The away team's innings was based around the returning Luke Milton’s 71 which came off 81 balls and included nine fours and two sixes. However once Milton holed out to long on, the hard hitting in-form Sam Price hit a rapid 29 off 17 balls with three fours and two sixes  to see his side to 190 for nine at the end of their innings.

The Carhampton bowlers had the hosts reeling at three runs for two wickets before Josh Newman with 32 and George Robertson who made 20 saw the score onto 67 for three.

A fifth wicket stand of 64 between Matt Warne who made 52 off 46 balls and Richard Baker (17) put Crowcombe in a strong position after which Rob White 21 and Jack Lewis who ended 21 not out saw the hosts home  as they ended on 195 for eight in the 36th over.
