MINEHEAD Third XI made the trip along the A39 to play against Cannington where they won by 54 runs to climb above their hosts in Division Three of the West Somerset League.

After being asked to bat first the visitors lost three early wickets before opener Vishnu Kombath who made 25 was joined by Renjeesh Krishnan who hit 16.

Jithin Rajan and Athol Soman then moved the score on before the former was out for 23. Soman batted patiently for 45 to help Minehead to post 153 for nine from their 30 overs.

Pick of the Cannington bowlers was Robert Marcus Coombs who took three for 32 from his seven overs.

When Cannington batted they lost opener Stephen King run out for one early on. Jithin Rajan then claimed the wicket of ‘keeper George King for 17.

Sam How accounted for Lee Hayman for 15, before Renjeesh Krishnan came into the attack and along with Harry Swann saw the back of the rest of the batters as Cannington were all out for 97.

Renjeesh Krishnan was the pick of the bowlers with four for 16 off seven overs, while Jithin Rajan ended with two for 21 and Harry Swann two for 20.

Cannington 99 all out were beaten by Minehead Thirds 153 for nine by 54 runs.
