MINEHEAD face a tough away match against leaders Wembdon in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League on Saturday, July 13.
Minehead have won only one of their ten games this season and are eight points adrift at the bottom of the table. If they do not improve on this position, they face a quick return to the Premier Division of the Somerset League which they won last summer.
In contrast, Wembdon have lost only one of their league fixtures and have a ten-point lead at the top of the table.
In their latest game, Minehead lost by 79 runs at home to mid-table Yeovil who, batting first after winning the toss, scored 309-5 in their 50 overs with William Chesterman hitting 133, which included 23 fours and three sixes. Minehead skipper Dan Bowditch took 3-69 in his ten-over spell.
Batting has been a problem this season for Minehead but they started well against Yeovil with Darren Sherring (41) and Jonah Hopkins (. ) putting on 80 for the first wicket. Bowditch also scored 51 but the Seasiders were eventually bowled out for 230 with Chesterman being the Man of the Match with figures of 4-24. Dan Ewens also took 2-31.
