I THINK it is summer. . . and we did have a few days of bright sunshine and warmth. However that has now disappeared and we have reverted to rain and the cooler weather. The horses enjoy a mud pack while they are on their holidays and we have a few who require an extra rug to keep warm and dry.

With the dry-ish weather we endeavoured to make hay. However it ended up as haylage, but we have succeeded in shearing the sheep! The staff have enjoyed their holidays and are now beginning to return to work and the horses are due to return to work from the middle of the month.

We have only had a few in to run this summer and Kings Castle won twice in June in the space of nine days at Newton Abbot to add to the win he had at Warwick in May bringing up a treble!

He is enjoying the ground and the penny has finally dropped! Bryan Carver was in the saddle for his first two wins and then we took a bit of weight off with Ben Bromley.

Jeremy and Camilla are heading off to the July Sales in Ireland to have a look at the store horses while Georgina and Laura will head up to the July Sales in Newmarket with the aim of finding one from the Flat.

We would like to put together a syndicate of likeminded people to buy one from the Flat to run on the flat this summer before going hurdling in the Autumn. If there is anybody who is interested then please get in touch with Georgina at the contact below if you like to get involved.

Our homebred three year olds have been expertly broken in by Ben Jones, one is a first foal out of Bonanza Girls and the second is a full brother to Dashel Drasher - they are now enjoying enjoying their holidays.

To find out more please email Jeremy Scott -[email protected] or telephone him: 01398 371414.
