WIVELISCOMBE'S young side are still without a victory in the second division of the Somerset Cricket League after losing by eight wickets at home to West Monkton on Saturday.

Having been put into bat, Wiveliscombe never recovered from a dreadful start in which they lost five wickets in scoring only 37 runs.

In fact, the only Wivey batter to hit double figures was Jake Woodward who was 55 not out at the end after he ran out of partners.

Joe Holman took 3-15, Lewis James 3-2, Charrick Ranaweera 2-22 and Joe Roberts 2-24.

The Taunton side encountered few problems in knocking off the runs with Joe Lee (43) and Richie Bellringer (22) in an unbroken third wicket stand.

Henry Welch (1-19) and Charlie Fleming (1-19) were the only bowlers to take wickets on a day when Wiveliscombe were very much second best.

It means Wiveliscombe are bottom of the league, having lost three of their four matches, the other being a draw.
