ALCOMBE Rovers finally found themselves back in action in Division Two of the Taunton and District Saturday League after four weeks off, against a top of the table Dunwear United, a team who had scored 30 goals In their last two games!
The pitch at King George Park was under water so the match was moved to a different venue at Dunster.
Despite it seeming like everything was against them as soon as the first whistle blew you could see that the claret and blues were not about to roll over!
The first half was a fierce contest with strong tackles flying in, one of which resulted in Alcombe losing their star midfielder Matty Ronan with an injury.
Chances were few and far between and the half ended 0-0.
The second half carried on like the first, but after 10 minutes the Dunwear top scorer struck a free kick that looked destined for the top corner, but Alcombe ‘keeper Nat Leader got up high and tipped it over.
In the final 20 minutes Alcombe piled on the pressure and looked most likely to get a goal, but they couldn’t make the most of their opportunities and the game finished 0-0.
