DULVERTON Town beat Watchet Town Reserves 2-0 at home in a highly anticipated West Somerset derby in Division Two of the Taunton & District Saturday Football League.
The home team started nervously, gifting Watchet some early chances in the opening minutes but they soon settled down, and it was skipper Dave Kelland who opened the scoring, making it 1-0 at the break.
Conditions were not ideal and as the teams went in at half time the pitch was beginning to cut up.
After the break Watchet produced several threats to the Town back line and some last ditch tackles were required to keep them from conceding an equaliser.
A long ball up from Town’s keeper Carl Hooper allowed Chamberlain to head the ball over the Watchet keeper to give them a more secure lead of 2-0.
Dulverton should have put to game to bed with 20 minutes to go but winger James Kelland missed a penalty, which spurred Watchet to go all out to try and take something from the game.
However it was not to be and Town held on for an impressive 2-0 win and are now fourth in the table.
Dulverton Town are at home again this weekend when they host another West Somerset side Porlock Reserves.
