OUTDOOR sport took a pounding from the bad weather over the weekend with many football matches being called off because of waterlogged pitches.
However, Watchet Town managed to play their crucial home game against bottom side Bishop Sutton in the Premier Division of the Uhlsport Somerset County League and gained a 1-0 victory with Harvey Henderson snapping up the all important winner.
It was only their third victory of the season and they moved up to 13th spot. In other Premier Division matches Uphill Castle gained a 4-1 away win over sixth-placed Clevedon United while Somerton Town won 1-0 at home to Worle to stay 12th.
Minehead's hopes of stepping up the pressure at the top in the first division were dashed when their away game against Glastonbury was rained off. It means the seasiders stay fourth, six points behind leaders Congresbury with two matches in hand.
Only three games were played in the Taunton Saturday League's Premier Division with leaders Galmington beating Redgate 6-2 at home to stay 17 points clear of the field.
In Division Two of the Somerset Sunday League, leaders Hulan won 6-1 at home to Northwell United while Carhampton Rovers won by the same scoreline away to bottom side St Berthevin.
