ROBBIE Hopkins, appointed chairman of Minehead Football Club at the end of March, has ‘stepped down.’

In a statement issued on behind of the club, Mark Vickers said: “Very sadly I have to confirm that Robbie Hopkins has had to step down from the chairman’s role at Minehead with immediate effect.

“This is for personal reasons and I would like everyone to respect Robbie’s privacy please. Robbie has asked me to step back into the role with immediate effect and having agreed to this the decision has now been ratified by the existing directors. “It is not what I had planned or wanted, having stepped aside last February but clearly the club must come first. I now need to get up to speed as quickly as possible but inevitably that will take a few weeks.

“We need a settled period now and my intention will be to be in situ for the coming season during which time we will search hard for the right person to take over.. We have no one in mind at this stage as Robbie was the perfect choice and other candidates were not forthcoming or sought. “Finally I would like to thank Robbie for what he has done in the short period at the helm..”
