MINEHEAD maintained their unbeaten record in the Under 16 section of the Somerset Girls Football League with a 2-0 home win over 100 per centers Purnell.

But it was not until the 55th minute that the deadlock was broken with the Purnell defence breached via brilliant link up play with Bonita, Lilly, Mabel all involved in getting Erin that opportunity she craved. The on-form striker found herself 1v1 and finished with a composed, low finish into the far right corner! There was elation as Minehead got the goal they deserved and were now in full control of proceedings.

From the spacious midfield area Erin was found again in a strong position. This time the outcome was a little different as the striker seemingly through again was being tugged back by her opponent. The referee blew for the foul and rightfully awarded a penalty to Minehead.

In this moment there was only one player for the job - Jaz who was ready to take on the pressure of the spot kick. A collective deep breath for all in attendance as the referee blew his whistle, Jaz started her run up and fired the ball into the bottom corner, leaving the keeper with no chance.

Minehead are away to Wellington this weekend.
