PORLOCK took the trip along the A39 to Bridgwater on Saturday to play Redgate in the Taunton and District Saturday League.
With both teams in mid table each of them was looking for a win to gain ground on those above them.
The opening quarter of an hour was a very cagey affair with neither creating any clear cut chances but an injury to Andy Hall forced Porlock into an early substitute which brought Joe Fitzsimmons who had an instant affect.
Almost with his first touch Fitzsimmons played lovely ball through the Redgate back line which Lewis Goodrum latched onto and slotted home to put Porlock into the lead.
It wasn’t long before Fitzsimmons worked his magic again, this time linking up with Adam Barker who put Porlock two goals ahead.
Porlock had a further chance to extend their lead but were unable to find the net while at the other end a long ball from the Redgate goalkeeper caused some dramas, resulting in a free kick from which they opened their account as it ended 2-1 at the break.
The second half started like the first with both teams not creating a great deal. The deadlock was broken however when Redgate were awarded another free kick from which they scored.
Tension was starting to rise but Porlock were not deterred, as the front three continued to cause the Redgate backline all sorts of troubles.
Despite their best attempts however the winner never came and the game ended 2-2, leaving Porlock to ponder on two points dropped rather than one point gained.
Porlock are sixth in the table with 24 points from their 16 game and on Saturday make their way back up the A39 again where they face Bridgwater Wolves who are two places above them, but have played two more matches.
