WATCHET Town will be looking to avenge 1-0 home defeat by Fry Club earlier this season when they play away to the Bristol side in the Premier Division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League on Saturday, March 15.
“They are a good side and we are expecting another tough game,” said Nick Sully, a member of the Watchet club’s management committee.
Watchet, fourth from bottom, did not play last weekend and Sully added: “Results went for us, which they have done for a while. Obviously, we want to stay up but we have to start winning games.”
Two of the sides below Watchet, Worle and Timsbury Athletic, both crashed to 6-0 home defeats last weekend while bottom side Bishop Sutton drew 3-3 at Yatton and Cleeve.
Watchet are hoping that influential midfielder Brandon Walsh will be available on Saturday after missing the 3-1 home defeat by highfliers Chilcompton Sports a fortnight ago. Saturday’s opponents Fry Club are lying third.
Ilminster Town are continuing to set the pace at the top of the table and have a five-point lead over second-placed Chilcompton Sports.
Meanwhile, Minehead will also have to start winning games - they are away to Glastonbury on Saturday - after slipping to sixth in the table following their 3-1 away loss to Stockwood Sports - in the first division last weekend. Minehead and Glastonbury have the same number of points but Glastonbury have played one more fixture than their rivals.
The Seasiders are now 17 points behind leaders Congresbury who have lost only one match this season. Minehead have dropped eight points in their last three games and have drawn seven matches - more than any other side in the division.
Three teams will be promoted in this division and Minehead are currenly seven points behind the third-placed outfit Wrington Redhill but have a match in hand.
