WEST Somerset trainers have enjoyed considerable success in the days leading up to the Cheltenham Festival.

Jeremy Scott had a day to remember at Exeter on Friday when he had three winners and three others placed making this his most successful day at the races.

His first horse in the frame was Zainy Champ ridden by Lorcan Williams which was second at 11-2 in the maiden hurdle over two miles and almost a furlong. Next up King of the Lake won at 9-5 favourite ridden by Chad Bament in the handicap hurdle over the same distance half an hour later.

Captain Boudet made it a double when he won the handicap chase over two miles three furlongs under David Noonan going off at 5-1. In the same race Joe Cotton, who’d gone off 3-1 favourite under Lorcan Williams, was third.

The trainer didn’t have to wait much longer to make it a treble when Bampton Star won the next race a handicap chase over three miles and 54 yards ridden by Chad Bament going off at 15-8 favourite.

Jeremy almost had a four timer but just missed out in the last when Native Moon (9-2) ridden by Lorcan Williams was narrowly beaten into second place.

Philip Hobbs and Johnson White, who train alongside the A39 at Bilbrook, have also enjoyed a rich haul of winners.

The Sandhill Stable duo enjoyed a double at Wincanton on Thursday when I See the Sea won the opener under Callum Pritchard as 2-1 favourite, before Sean Houlihan rode Paddy in The Caddy to victory in the third going off at 5-4 favourite.

The pair notched up another double at Taunton on Monday when Sunninghill ridden by Micheal Nolan won the third going off at 5-2 favourite before half an hour later Musical Slave with the same jockey won at 5-1.
