WATCHET Town have a derby match at home to highfliers Staplegrove in the Premier Division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League on Saturday, December 14 (2p.m.).

Staplegrove are lying second in the table but trail leaders Ilminster Town by 11 point, although they have a game in hand.

Grove won the first division title last season with Watchet finishing runners up. The Taunton side ended Watchet’s hopes of winning the championship after beating them 3-1 at home in a crucial game in April. However, Watchet were 2-1 winners at home in the other encounter between the sides earlier in the season.

Ilminster are playing in the Somerset Senior Cup which means Grove have the chance to close the gap at the top if they win at the Memorial Ground.

Watchet, who are waiting on the fitness of midfielder Brandan Walsh, have slipped back into the relegation zone. They are third from bottom with ten points from 16 matches.
